Approach

Geography

At Thomson House School we aim to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. The curriculum has been designed to develop knowledge and skills that is progressive throughout the whole school as well as transferable to their further education and beyond. Geography is taught as part of either a half-termly or termly topic, focusing on knowledge and skills pulled from both the National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum.  The curriculum has been designed so as to promote the children’s interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. By revisiting these areas of learning regularly, children will remember more, know more and understand more.
