Healthy School

What is Healthy School London?

The Mayor's Healthy Schools London (HSL) programme is an awards scheme that supports and recognises achievements in child health, wellbeing and development in schools. HSL aims to reduce health inequalities by supporting a healthy start to life across themes that include healthy eating, oral health, physical health and mental health.

We are delighted to have achieved the Healthy Schools Silver Award in January 2024 and are actively working towards our Gold accreditation.

At Thomson House School, we believe that we have a vital role in nurturing the health and well-being of every pupil. A Healthy School is one that actively supports children and young people to become happier, healthier and more ready to learn and achieve their fullest potential. This commitment is grounded in national education and health policies that recognise how a positive school environment contributes to pupils' overall development. Through the Healthy Schools programme, we are empowered to plan and implement initiatives that promote physical, emotional and mental well-being for our entire school community.

A Healthy School takes a whole-school approach, engaging not only pupils but also staff, parents, governors and carers in creating a supportive and inclusive environment. We provide accessible, relevant information and equip everyone with the skills and understanding needed to make informed health choices. Pupils thrive in a culture where their voices are heard and valued, influencing decisions that affect their health and school life.
